Sustainability
In the UK, 22 million pieces of furniture gets tossed away every year, most of which goes directly to landfill. By going circular we can keep furniture in our homes longer.
Reuse, repair and recycle approach
We want to encourage a circular approach over the more common consume and discard practice.
- We believe that for-profit companies can help drive positive change. That's why every month we donate 1.5% of our revenue to a charity which is working towards creating a positive impact to the earth.
- We allow furniture to stay within a circular system. The pieces we sell are are hand picked to be durable and able to last many years.
- We restore and repair pieces to their former glory when needed. For example by fixing small scratches or repairing or exchanging spare parts on the furniture.
- On our sister site, Zenkki Subscribe, we provide furniture for short term needs and here on Buyloop, we both sell pre-loved pieces but also can take back and resell items you bought with us in the past - creating a fully circular model.
-
We use eco-friendly materials for wrapping furniture and re-use materials which would of otherwise be thrown away (such as bubble wrap, boxes etc). Some of our suppliers may use plastic to package their products and rather than throw it away, we try to reuse it and try to encourage them to change their materials. We also accept and take back our customers excess packaging whenever possible.
- We aim to optimise our delivery routes so that we can reach as many customers as possible in the same area, on the same trip. Our ambition is to move to fully electric vehicles for deliveries and collections.
-
More widely, we write about and promote local and international circular and environmental initiatives and other companies who are trying to make a difference.
- When choosing furniture partners we only pick pieces designed to last as well as take our partners environmental credentials into consideration.

Some of our furniture partners
HÅG designs take into account low weight, fewer components, better choice of materials, longer lifespan and a design that is suitable for disassembly. Their products are easily repaired, cleaned, reused and recycled. Manufactured in Norway.
Swyft make their frames from FSC certified timber and support the organisation "Trees for Cities". The plastic they use in their packaging is biodegradable and they aim to be carbon neutral. Their furniture is easily repaired, cleaned, reused and recycled. Their frames have a 15 year warranty, which demonstrates the good quality of the build. Manufactured in Portugal.
Woodman only use locally sourced, GSC certified wood. Their items are often, at least in part, made from solid wood which means they are likely to last much longer than flat pack furniture made of for example MDF. Manufactured in Estonia.
Oakywood use ECO friendly materials, FSC certified wood and partner with "One Tree Planted", a non profit organisation which has planted more than 25,000 trees. Manufactured in Poland.
Anglepoise creates iconic, durable and well engineered lamps which stand the test of time and are known to last many decades after purchase.
